Employee Spotlight- James Pippins
At Atlantic Capital, we believe that banks are uniquely positioned to help make our communities better places to live. We encourage employees regularly to find ways to stay active in local neighborhoods and organizations, fueling prosperity beyond our clients’ walls. Recently, we spoke with one of our teammates, James Pippins, about his volunteer efforts with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
James Pippins joined the Atlantic Capital team in 2018, about the same time he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. An avid volunteer since the age of 8, James was raised in a household surrounded by community service. “I was raised with a selfless spirit,” says Pippins. “My mom is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, so I grew up around Greek organizations and volunteering. I remember being a member of the NAACP at the age of 10.”
James’s volunteering journey initially began through his church and eventually through projects in his hometown. “I’m originally from Chicago, and every stereotype you can think of describes my family or my upbringing. When I was exposed to a better lifestyle, I knew I couldn’t stand by and not lend a helping hand. I couldn’t stand by and be exposed to more and not reach back to help someone else.”
Since 2018, James has been involved in numerous volunteer activities and community initiatives through his Fraternity, including:
- Economic Empowerment – monthly seminars that allowed participants to take advantage of small business grants and resources, including Atlantic Capital’s Small Business Booster Kits, loans, and other economic resources
- Opportunity Knocks 4 Youth – a partnership with Mount Bethel Church that provides mentorship for at-risk teens
- The Ervin Keith Hollman Memorial Golf Classic – one of the premier fundraisers for the Henry Arthur Callis Foundation to provide scholarships and educational programming for Cobb County students and residents
Atlantic Capital is proud to have an employee like James making a lasting, positive impact in his community. We look forward to James’s continued serviced to his community, and we can’t wait to see what he does next.
